Women in Space
WOMEN CONQUERING SPACE
If it's a man's world, it's a woman's space. For centuries, women have been shut behind closed doors to the world outside dominated by men. They have emerged with insights contributing significantly to space exploration. Not only have they traveled as astronauts, but they have also been contributing to operational fields.

Wouldn’t you strive to do the impossible? In the decades back, “astronaut” was a foreign term in a woman’s job application. Women’s full potential was never recognized. Thrust down the pit of expectations, they were to fulfill all household duties. Females have strived to surpass any limitations in conquering their lucid dreams. The very first human being to ever blast into space was Yuri Gagarin in 1961. Only 2 years later Valentina Tereshkova took one small step for man, one giant leap for women as she changed all perceptions of women in space. This paved a road of hope and desire which was to be trekked by many empowered females in the near future.
Women have faced countless challenges in their fight for rights. Females were thought to be thinkers from the heart, but they have now also conquered the headspace of the nation. All astronauts were required to be military pilots, a career unavailable to women at the time. It is extraordinary how women have crushed all the barriers in the way of their dreams and aspirations. Education, one of the largest barriers, is the most important gift you can give. Once you teach a woman, you educate many more generations to come.
One of the first empowered women who educated the world and set foot in space is my country’s very own Kalpana Chawla. The tragedy which occurred in Space Shuttle Columbia Feb 1, 2003, was a big moment nationwide. She is honored because she thinks with her heart rather than her brain. Women of all races have grown to inspire the following generations who long to follow their footsteps and join the astronauts' force. These insightful women played a vital role and served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations worldwide.
The sky certainly is no longer the limit for women interested in space exploration. Proudly, they have overcome impossible challenges and ignited a spark of hope inside the hearts of little girls aspiring to follow their footsteps.

Hidden Figures |
Fortunately, the world we've created for ourselves today is ever so respectful and accepting of the people around us. Activists like Greta Thunberg and Malala Yousfzai have made a name for themselves as well as their nation as their movements have made a significant positive impact. Their admirable perseverance and effect on the world are overwhelming. Malala's touching story has moved me. Her courage to come out and address the issues of female education, after going through so much, is one virtue I wish to see in everyone.
